Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on every seasons of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, the family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was struggling at school and later found out she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran who was in the process of failing many classes during her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
